Welcome!

Hi! My name is Kimber Smith, and 2023-2024 is my seventh year at Union Grove ISD and my eighteenth year in the profession. 

I currently teach seventh-grade English/Language Arts and high school journalism. I also coach the middle school UIL writing teams.

I'm innately competitive and have high expectations for all of my students and team members, but my favorite thing about working with students is seeing kids realize how much they've improved over time and learn to believe in themselves.

I'm a certified English/Language Arts and Reading, ESL, and Journalism teacher. I also have certifications as a Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher. I graduated from LeTourneau University with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (English and Education) in 2006 and with a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction: Triple Literacy from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2016.

My daughter Kinley also attends UGISD, and we are thrilled about all of the opportunities available in this district!
