    UGISD Update

    Union Grove families,

UGISD will remain closed through the end of May. We will continue to serve meals on M/W 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, at the JH/HS student parking lot. Please go to ugisd.org - distance learning center - grab-n-go lunch order form and complete the form for the upcoming week of March 30th.

We will also do packet pickup Mondays, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm & again at 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm. If students do work online, they do not need a packet. If you cannot come during those time frames, packets will be left at the entrance of both campuses. If you do not have transportation to pickup the packet, call 903-845-3481 (elementary) or 903-845-5506 (JH/HS) and leave the student(s) name & mailing address by Monday morning. We ask that packets from the previous week be returned (staple or clip, student name on front page & grade level).

Next week we will communicate how these packets and online work will be reviewed by teachers to determine student progress while we remain closed. We appreciate your cooperation as we continue with the distance learning.

Check out www.ugisd.org/dlc - distance learning center for more information.

  • All campuses, offices closed through the end of May.

Posted by Union Grove ISD on 3/13/2020 3:40:00 PM

    Dear UGISD community,

In order to limit the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19) to our campus and community, and because the health and safety of Union Grove ISD students, faculty, and families is our primary concern, we are extending spring break for students and suspending all extracurricular activities through the end of May.  We are not aware of any confirmed or suspected coronavirus cases among the Union Grove community, but out of an abundance of caution, and to best discern the situation and next steps, we believe that delaying school is a prudent decision.

UGISD district campuses and offices will be closed during this time.  We will be closely monitoring the situation and seeking information from TEA, CDC and DSHS. UIL has also suspended activities and we will continue to seek information about rescheduling these events in the coming days.

The district is developing plans for off-site instruction/learning and feeding students that may need meals, if we are out for an extended period of time.

There are many resources available on the web to research the coronavirus. Two resources that you may want to consider are:

     https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

     https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/

This is a rapidly changing situation and we will continue to monitor it closely and communicate as necessary. We appreciate your cooperation as we strive to keep everyone safe and healthy. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

    With Lion Pride,

    Kelly Moore, Superintendent of Schools

  • Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Posted by Union Grove ISD on 3/12/2020 3:00:00 PM

    Dear UGISD community,

Union Grove ISD continues to monitor the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic daily.

Any decisions that may need to be made regarding a change to school operations will be done with guidance from Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local health officials, along with guidance and direction from the authorities at TEA and Region VII.

During the break, Union Grove ISD cleaned and disinfected buildings including sanitizing all facilities, buses and vehicles.  We will continue this program daily to slow the spread of germs.

Based on current information, health officials are recommending schools take these steps to protect against coronavirus and to prevent the spread of everyday illnesses like the common cold or the flu:

    • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
    • Cover the mouth and nose with the inside of the elbow when coughing or sneezing.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
    • Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Stay home when sick.

    Center for Disease Control: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html

Texas Department of State Health Services: https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/

Union Grove ISD will continue to monitor this situation and update periodically.  Please know that the safety and well-being of students and staff will guide the decision-making process moving forward.
